Resumé

In this article, the words śḫ and śḫw from the Memphis – resp. Karnak – Stela of Amenhotep II. are considered again. According to the context, the words have denoted a detail on chariots. In both cases, they are brought in relation with śḫr “tin”. The first writing goes back to the loss of r at the end of the word which is well known in other cases, too. The necessary condition for the second writing has been played by the phonetic change between w and r for which new examples are given in an appendix.
