Abstract

The article deals with the Kolyma-Yukaghir term łokił ~ łokkił “(blunt) arrow”, its possible origin in the context of terms for arrows in other Siberian languages, as well as in that of hunting terminology. The author with others (like K. Vilkuna, N. Poppe etc.) traces it back to Tungus languages and discusses its character as a taboo-word.
