Tidlig fremmedspråkundervisning på barneskolen – et nødvendig grunnlag for en god nok språkkompetanse i framtiden

I det siste tiåret har det vært gjennomført to forsøk med såkalt tidlig start på 2. fremmedspråk i Norge. De deltagende barneskolene tilbød i disse forsøkene undervisning i et 2. fremmedspråk etter engelsk for elever på barneskolene (se for eksempel Speitz et al 2007, Mordal et al 2012 og 2013). Evalueringene konkluderte med, etter begge forsøk, at elevene som oftest stortrives med å lære seg et 2. fremmedspråk allerede på barneskolen. Samtidig ble det avdekket et klart forskningsbehov når det gjelder avklaringer i forhold til fagets innhold, målsetninger og didaktisk-pedagogiske profil. Bidraget skal se på erfaringene man har samlet i Norge i og utenfor forsøkene. Dessuten skal det sees på andre lands erfaringer med en tidligere start på undervisningen i 2. fremmedspråk enn i Norge. Også norske erfaringer med tidlig undervisning i 2. fremmedspråk utenfor kommunale skoler, for eksempel ved Steinerskoler skal trekkes inn. På bakgrunn av slike erfaringer og rapportene etter forsøkene diskuteres først behov og utfordringer et slikt språkfag på barneskolen vil føre med seg. Deretter skisseres det hvilken struktur og hvilket innhold faget 2. fremmedspråk på barneskolen kan ha i framtiden.Downloads
