Author Guidelines

Title page

All submissions should include a separate title page.

The title page should include the title of the paper, the names of all authors and their affiliations. Please also indicate who the corresponding author is, and add contact details to this person.

Please also include a statement of whether conflicting interests exist or not, an acknowledgement (optional) and a "who-did-what-note" (if considered relevant). This information will be included at the end of the article in the final version, if accepted for publication.

Finally, for research using individual level data including but not limited to health and other sensitive data, information about whether the research has been approved by an ethics committee should be reported including any reference number to the decision. If no, justify briefly why not.

In the submission process, upload the title page as Title page.

Manuscript

The first page of the manuscript should contain the title of the paper, up to six key words, appropriate JEL classification codes, and an abstract of a maximum of 300 words. The abstract should be written without sub-headings.

Note that no author names or acknowledgement, or other details that clearly reveal who the author(s) is (are) should be included in the manuscript document. Please make sure that your document is cleaned from any information that can identify the author. Before submission, please check the PROPERTIES of your manuscript and make sure that no author name is detailed there. These instructions are all to create a blind review process.

Manuscripts of Article and Commentary types should not exceed 5000 words of body text. Research notes should not exceed 2000 words of body text. The text should be double spaced, typed in Times New Roman of size 11 pt. The sections in the manuscript should be numbered (1, 1.1 etc.). Place tables and figures at the end of the manuscript, and indicate the place at which a table or figure is to be inserted clearly in the manuscript. Tables and figures should be numbered and referred to using Arabic numerals (Table 1, Table 2 etc.).

The submission file should be in Microsoft Word document file format.

The references should follow the Harvard format (i.e. author-date of the type Hansen, 2006; Smith and Petersen, 2009), and a full reference list at the end of the manuscript. In the text, name up to two authors. If the reference has three authors or more, name the first author and use et al. In the reference list, the title of the journal or book should be in italics.

Please note that there exists several variants of the Harvard reference format. Authors need to verify that the reference list is submitted in the format of the Nordic Journal of Health Economics as shown in published papers. Standard reference managing programmes may use other variants of the Harvard format as default.
