Author Guidelines

Submitted articles or suggestions for articles may not previously have been published or be under consideration in other journals, anthologies, monographs, or equivalent. Manuscripts must be based on good scholarship and ethics, and the language must be of good guality.

The journal's main language is Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. Articles may also be submitted in English, especially by authors from Finland, Iceland and non-Nordic countries. Authors who are not writing in their native language should have the language of their texts professionally revised before it is submitted to the journal.

Main articles may consist of a maximum of 7,000 words including notes, sources and references. Editorial welcomes suggestions for illustrations and pictures. Reviews, presentations and other types of articles may consist of a maximum of 3000 words, and for such contributions the editors should be contacted in advance. Questions and suggestions for reviews can be sent directly to the editor responsible for reviews.

To be deemes suitable for publication, all texts must follow the guidelines and instructions for manuscripts, wich are available in the document "Style Rules" on this website. Since 2006 Nordisk Museologi has applied a system of peer review to assess the main artickles in the journal and, in certain cases, other contributions. This means that submission are appraised for language and content in several stages, both by the editorial board and by external peer reviewers. For more about the peer review process, see the document "Peer Review Guidelines".

Questions about publication may be directed to the main editor or the country editors of the journal, whose names and contact information can be found in the "About" section in this website. Authors will receive a response to their manuscripts within two months after submission. Material will not be returned after publication and editors assume no responsibility for unsolicited material. Authors receive no payment for published material, but receive 1–3 copies of the issue of the journal, depending on the length of the contribution. Those who wish can also obtain their contribution as an pdf file and can freely disseminate it in relevant contexts. No fee is charged for publication, exept that authors themselves must cover expenses for any translation work and/or language revision, as well as expenses in connection with the use of illuystrations. By contributing to the journal, authors give approval for their texts to be made available digitally, in parallel with printed issue.

The journal is published twice yearly, in June and in December. Deadline for submission of articles is December 1 (no.1) and June 1st (No. 2).
