We describe an implementation of a step model of crisis management for patients with a borderline personality disorders (B-PD) at the Psychiatric Department, Namsos Hospital. The objective is to support the long-term psychotherapeutic treatment of the patients. We describe the different phases of the model along with the challenges linked to the implementation on the different levels in health care. Our main findings are that from 2007 to 2011 there was a reduction of (re)admissions of patients with B-PD. The average admission time has been reduced. The use of forced initiatives decreased. The article ends with a discussion of the implementation process of the model and the current significant experiences with the model.Downloads
