Focus and Scope

Primitive Tider is an independent scientific journal that is run on a voluntary basis. The journal is ranked as a level 1 journal by the Universities Norway (UHR). Apart from peer-reviewed articles, the journal also publishes book reviews and reports that undergo editorial scrutiny.

The aims of the journal is to be a platform where younger, up-and-coming archaeologist can publish their work. However, the journal is open for researchers at any stage in their career.

The journal is published once a year, and contains peer-reviewed articles, book-reviews, debates, and reports. We encourage contributors to write in a Scandinavian language, but we also accept texts in English. The journal does not charge APCs or submission charges.

Peer Review Process

Primitive Tider is ranked as a Level 1 journal by the Universities Norway (UHR) and is registered in the NSD database. Every article receives an editorial review, and is sent out to two anonymous reviewers (double-blind) if accepted. Book-reviews and reports are only reviewed by the editors.

Every author will receive a short review of their article, with descriptions as to why the text was accepted, accepted with revisions, or declined. The peer-review process usually takes 12 weeks after the submission deadline.

Before the text can be published, the authors need to rework the text based on editorial recommendations and present a note that describes the revisions that have been made. Texts that do not follow the reference system will be returned.

Today the journal is an independent scientific journal that is run on a voluntary basis. The Universities Norway (UHR) ranks Primitive Tider as a Level 1 journal. Apart from peer-reviewed articles, the journal also publishes book reviews and reports.
